Naushon Island. Naushon Island has been a Forbes family retreat for some time, where the opium trader John Murray Forbes and his family summered for more than a century.

Sen. Naushon Island has been a Forbes family retreat for more than a century and a half, since its purchase by John Murray Forbes. Forbes was a businessman who began his career in his family's China trade business (trade which included opium, among other things) and made much of his fortune by investing in the early development of :   Transport to the private island of Naushon and Nashawena is by the Cormorant, operated by the Naushon Island Trust out of Woods Hole.

These islands are in the Elizabeth Islands, a chain of small islands south of Woods Hole. The Naushon Island Trust has its own pier in Woods Hole and is serviced by the Cormorant, the private launch that ferries the Forbes family, invited guests, and Views: 20K.
